Know your Galvanized Sheeting and the Ratings:
May clients struggle with the ratings and meaning of galvanized sheeting? We will try to make it easier by listing some pros and cons for you. There is no right or wrong when you select your roof sheeting, It will just influence the durability and lasting of the product and of cause your budget.
0.3 Galvanizing:This is the least galvanized protecting possible per square meter per sheet. There is nothing wrong with the product it is still good value for your money it just have limitations you need to know. It is a very thin sheet that needs to be handled with great care during installation. It dents and bends very easy. Due to the least galvanized protection the life span of the covering is much shorter than the other grades. However it is the cheapest roof sheeting available if you are on a tight budget. 0.4 Galvanizing:This is the most preferred choice by many builders and developers. It has that little bit more galvanized protect you desire. It is much easier to handle and install since it is way stiffer than the 0.3 sheet. It is a bit more expensive than the 0.3, but worth the price for the durability and lasting benefits it provide. All flashings are manufacture of 0.4 galvanized sheets sine you need a secure and durable flashing that need to last a long time. 0.5 Galvanized:This is a much more durable sheet due to its thicker galvanized coating. Price wise it is also quite expensive and not suitable for the everyday home builder. This product is mainly used for commercial, agricultural and industrial structures where the sheeting is adding extra bracing to the structure due to its thickness and strength. 0.8 Galvanized:This is the thickest galvanized coating available and also very expensive. It is a very heavy covering and therefore not suitable for the home builder. It is mainly use be the mining sector due to the harsh environment and to serve as extra bracing support for the super large structures. It also serves as a bit of safety protection due to its thickness to protect building near blasting areas from flying objects.
ROOF SHEETING:

|
IBR SHEETING
This is a superior roof covering that give your project that luxurious look. The big benefit of IBR roof sheeting is hidden in its profile. The 38mm deep cavity provide a gutter system that enhances the flow of water from the roof. The fact that the roofing screw is 38mm above the water level minimizes the possibility roof leaks, if installed correctly.
This profile is available in galvanized and Chromadek coatings.

CORRUGATED SHEETING
This is a very popular roof covering due do its slightly larger coverage per sheet than IBR. It still givens your project that stunning look but has some disadvantages.
The biggest disadvantage of corrugated roof sheeting is in its profile. The mere 17.5mm cavity does not provide sufficient flow of water from the roof. The fact that the roofing screw is 17.5mm above the water level is a huge risk and possibility for a roof leak. Especially if the profile was dented during installation. This is not a recommended profile for roof surfaces below 10 degrees. We would then rather recommend Kliplok 700.
This profile is available in galvanized and Chromadek coatings.
